Yeah that's right, we were all doing the H.I.I.T 6 week challenge, remember? Six weeks of crazy interval training and now it's over. Phew-WEEE are we fit now!

OK, snips aside, did you actually do it? If you did, you should get a medal. You should get MY medal. Here, take it from me as I lay pathetically face-down on the floor with a microwaveable beanie on my back.

So fill me in, if you tried HIIT what did it do for you? Are you going to continue to incorporate it into your workout week?

If you didn't try it out, what else have you been doing to work up a sweat? Bear in mind this is a family show....
Comments:

No HIIT here, but I have kicked up my morning exercise routine and do 20 minutes on my bike, up from barely five. Tripled the no. of times I climb the basement stairs from 1 to 3. Likely increase it as time goes by, but for now I've done something and I'm happy.

Comments:

The only exercise related activity I seem to have been doing with more intensity and regularity the last few days or so is changing flat tyres on my bike. That doesn't count does it ?

Comments:

Does standing for hours at the counter, processing tomatoes and chopping veggies for salsa count? No, I didn't think so.

How was your "weekend in the country" (do you know that song?)?

Comments:

I must be having sympathy pains cos my back was twingeing all morning! :o) No HIIT for me I'm afraid, I did do my first race yesterday though - 4.3m in 34m10s. (Can I get a woohoo? :o))

Comments:

Leah - Upping your daily movement by more than three times is great work by anyone's standards!

Andrew - Something tells me you're already pretty maxed out as it is! Hope you're doing OK after the stinker of a week.

Bag Lady - It was great thanks! The ponies were adorable - got photos but mum hasn't emailed them yet - will post soon! Destroyed my back shopping for discount designer jeans with my mum in town yesterday though - goddamn my love of a bargain! It seems trying on 20 pairs of jeans is not good for a thoracic spine injury....

Shivers - Fantastic time, bet you're chuffed to bits! Well done!

I did my best! I have been running and running and running - my 1/2 marathon is this weekend and I don't want to embarass myself toooo much.
Family show? since WHEN? hehehehe

Comments:

I didn't do it (but have been doing boot camp and walking galore:))- but I want to hear how it went for you!!

Comments:

Missicat - Wow, hardcore training then no doubt! I had no idea the 1/2 M was this coming weekend? All the luck in the world, that's so exciting!

Sagan - Boot camp sounds extreme, I'm so jealous! My HIIT campaign was crushed in week 2 due to the silly injury, but I was enjoying it up to that point :0) Still doing Spin, but that's more IT than HIIT in the true sense I suspect.

Comments:

I did the HIIT thing on the recumbent bike, and I've gotten much faster on it overall.

However, for today at least, I'll be sleeping and drinking fluids, as my cold came back.

Comments:

Yes, but did you get some great jeans?! :) (the price we pay for fashion!)

Comments:

Tricia - Get well soon my love! How's that for karma - you spend your week nursing BK and then you get it in the neck??

Bag Lady - Hell yeah! I've been flat on my back for two days, but I'm looking VERY stylish whilst doing it :0)

Ummm... I always incorporate some HIIT into my weekly workout schedule. But I can't say that it has given me the body of my dreams. Course I probably ought to give that up anyhow;)

Comments:

i have been dabbling in IT (interval training) but not HIIT. I like it. It feels good. I am increasing time, intensity, etc. That feels good too.

Comments:

I do HIIT a couple times a week, and have most of this year. I normally use a crosstrac machine, with a 6% incline for two minutes, then crank the incline up to 20% for one minute. I crank my reps up as fast as I can. I've found that now I can't get a hard cardio workout on the treadmill without (gasp) actually running for a while.

My overall results? My max heart rate is that of someone 15-20 years younger than my real age.

I haven't, however, seen a decrease in body fat - which was one of my goals.

Comments:

Charlotte - Still, I guess having the body of 99% of the REST of the female population's dreams will just have to do, huh? Guess it's all about the perspective... :0)

FGF - I'm with you on the IT! I honestly think that it's really helped maintain my fitness even though I can't run. It's all good, even if it's not HIIT!

Deb - That's an amazing result! You are an example to us all. I'm going to get a HRM as soon as I get better, with a view to a similar goal.

i didn't comment on this? what? crazy ...

hiit faltered for me at the end due to a couple factors - new job, boyfriend getting sick, etc. HOWEVER, what i did do i think helped in training for sure as i put in my best 5k time of the season. so, i think i'll try to continue it a bit through october as a way to amp up the ol' endurance levels.

still, my main goal for the month is REJUVENATION. i love fall and i'm going to enjoy it!

Comments:

oh wow, has it been six weeks already?!

I have been faithfully doing HIIT at least once, and on good weeks twice, a week.

Like I've mentioned it has been my saving grace, keeping me on track.

I will continue to keep HIIT as part of my workout regimen. Working it in as many days as I can.

Hope your back feels better soon!
